What is stress: stress is the body response to danger, thereby threatening health and having adverse effect on its functions.

Stress affect your whole body,your breathing and heart rate quicken, your blood pressure rises,gastrointestinal motility increases, brain functions increases and other body system kick into high gear. Little stress is not cause for concern but when it becomes chronic it become linked to lot of health related problems. Some hormone are released during stress called CORTISOL which is a steroid hormone in the glucocorticoid class of hormone produced by the ZONAL FASCULATA of the adrenal cortex. Catecholamine.

It goes a long way to affect the mental health (anxiety) studies shows that the hormone released during stress disrupt serotonin level which is a neuro-transmiter an its levels in the brain are believed to have an important influence in mood.Over reduction in serotonin may lead to anxiety,depression among many other disorder.

2. It affect sleep: when you are stressed it can be difficult to quiet your mind and fall or stay asleep causing periodic insomnia (sleeplessness).Sleeplessness can make you become irritable and tired.
