Priv: Blackberry's First Android Device

For those who missed their slider Phone with a physical keyboard, blackberry has an answer for you.

Blackberry Priv is the company’s first android Smartphone device that is due for release on November 09, 2015.
The Canadian phone maker will launch Priv at UK mobile retail outlet Carphone Warehouse with an option to pre order.

The phone first debut at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, MWC 2015.
Blackberry Executive, Ron Louks, pulled out the Dual-Curved, all-touch display with a keyboard slider device during their press conference without any detail or device name.
Later photo of the blackberry Priv showed a slender device from the side compared to the one Ron pulled out at MWC 2015.

Blackberry Priv has a dual-curved 5.4 AMOLED display with curved edges, a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 Pixels, priding the same features as Galaxy S6 Edge

It is powered by a 1.8GHz, 64bit Hexa-core Qualcom snapdragon 808 processor with a 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt Storage and a microSD card of up to 2TB in size.

Priv features three buttons at the right hand side of the device. The trio keys controls the volume rockers, split by what we expect to be a shortcut to voice control. The power/lock key resides on the left. The base hosts microUSB and headphone ports with a front facing speaker below the screen.

The Priv battery is bigger than that of the Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, LG G4 and Moto X Style with a 3410mAh, which the company is quoted as saying it should last up to 22.5 Hour.

The Priv comes with 18 megapixels rear camera and 2 megapixels front facing camera, powered by Schneider-Kreuznach lens with optical image stabilization and 4k UHD video recording.

Priv is launched on android 5.1.1 Lollipop, a step behind android 6.0 Marshmallow. There is presently no information about update to the new android version. Though other blackberries run android app via the amazon app store, this is the first to actually have complete access to Google app store (Google Play).

There’s a featured app called Dtek that help boost your privacy, which alerts you of possible compromise.

Priv off contract retail price is £559 (US$699, around AU$1,200)
Priv will cost $750 unlocked  in the US at ShopBlackberry. In Canada, it'll cost $949.

The Company said Priv stands for privacy.

With this year flagships Smartphones from Samsung, HTC and LG and Almighty iPhone 6s Plus, the danger is: will blackbery’s last experiment in the smartphone market survive?
