Lai Mohammed: What's In a Name?

A rose called by another name smells just the  same as Shakespeare said in Romeo And Juliet. The dramatist did not reckon with Africa's propensity to type cast.

In drama, casting directors often give roles to people who resemble the roles. For instance, a killer in a film is played by people who look like kIllers.
Christopher Walken cannot play a good man convincingly. Billy Drago too who threw knifes in Desperado was a molester in Con Air.

Nigeria current minister of information, Mr Lai Mohammed "lied"through the campaigns for elections" says  the PDP, the nations new opposition.

But it has never happened that an actor be given a role that resembles his name. President Buhari might just have scored a first by naming LaI Mohammed minister of Information.
What's more, people knew that Mr Lai fits the role.

Perhaps the drama lacks suspense because ministers of information In Africa lie for the government. Mostly governments that make the masses unhappy by not coming through with campaign promises.

Mr Lai's role will lack realism  because nobody will believe him. Not exactly because of his name but because the rehearsal for Mr Buhari's election featured Alhaji Lai Mohammed. And the audience already knows the story; making the whole sham an anti-climax.

Perhaps Mr Lai Mohammed called by another name will not talk the same.
