Buhari Diverts Nigerians' Attention: Nullifies Elections

Our plans miscarry because we have no aim. When a man does not know which harbour he is making for, no wind is the right wind - SENECA

Nigeria' not-so new president, Mr Mohammad Buhari, was brought to power in the most twisted manner.

During the campaigns, he spoke for less that 10 minutes in all sums.

At the time, it was a "we" campaign.
Nobody asked him what his economic policy would be. He gave  promises to transform Nigeria to a Paradise. Infact, his government was going to be a welfare type: Don't work; government will take care of you. So people shouted "Change" along side him and his assortment of bands.

Because the world turns on fear, among other emotions, and survival being  one of the most basic human instincts, The APC celebrated each terror attack by Boko Haram. That way, they could blame the former government.

And for some reason, it "worked"

6 Months after Jonathan congratulated him, Mr Buhari is still on a campaign trail. Except that Nigerians now pay for it.

A very disappointed masses watch as their children get no unemployment benefits. Rather, governors who stole their money got "bail outs""

Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has not paid salaries in 8 months, as an example.
Floor Mills Of Nigeria PLC is laying off workers.

Most employers, especially in the so called Oil and Gas category, want staff to leave on their own: no pay.

The construction industry has gone to sleep.

Boko Haram and allied attacks have killed more people  between May 29 and now. More deaths than 6 years of Jonathan

Truth be told, Boko Haram is winning.

The economy has died not only because Nigeria, more or less, no longer earns foreign exchange, but because, Mr Buhari has also wiped out the economic alliances that previous governments had built.

"Arresting" rich politicians no longer holds people's attentions as they grapple with hunger and depression. Mr Buhari's handlers think voiding elections that Attahiru Jega said were credible would engage Nigerians.

The problem with the strategy is two fold:

A) It shows Mr Buhari and APC didn't expect to win the election, hence their inability to actually govern.

B) Nigerians that want change want all the things that Mr Buhari promised them.

Mainly food.

They don't want election re runs that already point to violence.

By the way, if irregularities are the reasons for cancelling elections, perhaps the entire nation should have a rerun
