Amaechi: Buhari's Sinful Morality

Nigeria's Senate ,yesterday, ratified the nomination of Mr Rotimi Amaechi as a minister. The world to hold a collective breath.
Positions of ministers in Africa are routinely settlement matters. There are no recourse to capabilities.

What makes Mr Amaechi's case truly tragic is that he was nominated by a president "that vow to crush corruption"
In 2013, when Mr Amaechi was governor, he faced allegations of buying two aircraft with state's funds. He's yet to be cleared of those allegations.
Western Media,The Economist included, wrote at the time that " the problem with Nigeria state governors is that they control revenues larger than those of most nations.

Mohammadu Buhari openly disdained Mr Amaechi.

APC finally drafted Mr Amaechi not because he could win votes but because they could use his planes and money.

All the projects that Mr Rotimi Amaechi started in Rivers state were abandoned as he flew Mr Buhari to various destinations.

Now, Mr Buhari, as a badge of honour said he owns only 150 cows. He also borrowed money to buy the presidential ticket. Mr Buhari did not ask Amaechi where he got his money.
After all he was, oil minister, governor, Head of State and PTF chairman. 150 cows.

Traditionally, Amaechi's home governor, Mr Wike Nyesom should have endorsed him. He didn't and Buhari, at least, would have to compensate those that stole state's allocations to elect him.

Nobody, including himself, would be able to hide a rueful laugh the next time Mr Buhari talks about corruption.

He will not be able to deny the allegations that his so called cry for honesty was a campaign stunt.
Mr Buhari will not also be able to say that he is not persecuting the opposition.

Bail outs and perky appointments are hallmarks of corruption

Locking up the nation"s resources in a CBN vault that only him has a pass to is woeful plunder.

All his ministers have questions about them.
Most of the cases against them are about corruption.

Making Rotimi Amaechi a minister shows that Mr Buhari's word is only just that. Word.

Now he no longer belongs to himself but those that paid for his election thus making him guilty of their collective corruption.
